about insomniac
Founded in 2014, INSOMNIAC FILM FESTIVAL annually presents a selection of creative films from Toronto’s distinct community of low-budget/DIY filmmakers. Insomniac aims to celebrate risk-taking work that blurs the lines between age, genre, budget, and form. We want to celebrate the creativity and power of intelligent low budget filmmaking!

MEET THE TEAM!!!
Weeda Azim: Postponed her career as a filmmaker indefinitely to become a baker. Recently she made a banana bread so good that British chef Gordon Ramsay ate himself with his own two British hands and rated five stars. Tomorrow Weeda will postpone her baking career indefinitely to watch some movies.
Nara Wriggs: Has recently quit punk to become a prep. You can find her sitting in her room discarding all her tape media, and replacing it with all 6 seasons of Gossip Girl purchased through the Apple.com store.
Omneya Tollar: Really likes water, aswell as lizards because lizard skin looks like rocks. Things affiliated with movies & the insomniac community makes Omneyas eyes become cartoon heart eyes.
Seb Decter: Hated movies all his life. Until one year, on Opposite Day, when he was struck by lightning. Now he likes them just fine. Shortly after this, Seb joined the Insomniac team, where he continues to keep his hatred for movies in check. Please don’t mention Opposite Day around him though, he could revert!
Khanh Tudo: Likes movies, sleeping (the opposite of insomniac, i know) and graphic novels. They like movies that are both funny and crying movies at the same time!!!! Khanh has been apart of the Insomniac team since 2016 and loves it so much that July is the new best month of the year!
Adam Bovoletis: co-founded the fest in 2014 after the really kind GM at Rainbow Cinemas Market Square saw his promposal and said that Adam and his friends should show some movies at the theatre. And that’s what they did!
Winnie Wang: Likes blue and yellow, tomato and basil soup, linen pants, Swansea and the year 1997.
Funké Joseph: Has never seen a movie before, but they think the poster for Fight Club looks cool.
